Marc Chagall was a strong believer in the United Nations during his lifetime. In 1989 just after artist’s death, the World Federation of United Nations received special permission from the his estate to publish this edition to commemorate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The etching was created by a master printer in France from an ink wash drawing by Chagall on 100% pure rag arches paper. The image was chosen as the first etching released by the United Nations. Published by The United Nations.
